Stalling Problem.

Featured Replies

Hi Guys!

Another Fabia Problem.

The car is 8 years old, and has only done 70,000 miles. I myself have only done 2,000 of them.

Any way, the startmotor is going, which is quite concerning, but whats more so is that the car is stalling when in neutral, mostly at tracfic lights. The ref metre drops below 1, and fluctuates up and down, the engine makes a pulsing feeling as well.

What could be the cause of this? because when the engine stalls, and the startermotor doesn't always works im screwed. I am taking it a Skoda garage tomorrow, but i just want a little bit of knowledge so i am not taken advantage of.

So quickly, what could be the cause of this, and what would hte potential cost, ie startermotor and fixing the other unknown problem.

Thanks guys

Which model of car? Petrol or Diesel and engine size?

Sorry - 1.4 and it's a petrol. Fabia Comfort!

A couple of my friends have suggested it's the disk cap needing a clean. But to be truthful i don't know anything about cars.

Probably best to have it scanned for fault codes, either at a dealer, or someone on here near you with VAGCOM.

Starter motor problems may just be a bad battery connection, or battery failing, but alternator charging would need to be checked as well.

Engine hunting, sounds like throttle body may need a good clean, but can also be coolant temperature sensor, or MAF.
