Keeping White Wheels White

Featured Replies

Looking at getting my Fabia wheels changed to white to contrast against the red bodywork :thumbup:but having seen a couple of other cars with white wheels they appear to go grey with grime and brake dust very very quickly.

More than happy to wash the car/wheels every weekend...ok ok DRY weekend but is there any advice/products that can be carried out/used by a complete novice (I still wash a car with a sponge and 1 bucket!!) to delay the dirtification??

Pricing/processes/appreciated or alternatively if any of you detailing junkies are based near Cheltenham and want to do the work for me drop me a quote! :D

Thanks in advance

Cliff

Jetseal is good for keeping the alloys clean.

Also you need to consider your choice of brake pad, as some of the materials produce a lot of semi-metallic dust, which will eat it's way into the paint as it comes out pretty hot.

Step 1 is to get a decent protection layer on to them. They will still get dirty - but hopefully not as quickly. Good protection will also make them easier to clean.

Chemical Guys and Poorboys both do dedicated wheel protection type products.

Or as CM says, something like Jetseal or indeed any other wax would work.

Step 2 is regular cleaning. I've just bought some Autobrite Very Cherry acid free wheel cleaner in a DW Group Buy deal - Detailing World. Spray on and rinse off. Use something like this once a week and maybe a more thorough clean with wheel brush once a month and you should be fine.

PS Please trade the sponge in for a 2nd bucket

To ensure that you keep the 'shine and colour' of your wheels protecting them is a similar process to protecting your paintwork and it's all in the preparation of the surface.

Once you have cleaned and sealed the wheels then buying a sensible wheel cleaner and brush will ensure that your cleaning time is cut but you can maintain a durable finish on the wheels from the elements.

I would recommend CG Jetseal 109 for wheels everytime.........

Another vote for Jetseal 109 here

Before Christmas I used two layers of that under two layers of Collinite 476...my wheels are still beading water
