04 fabia 1.9tdi cambelt change

Featured Replies

Hi

can anyone tell me what the interval for changing the cambelt on these is, looking in my service book the dealership got me to change it a 77000 miles but in the front of the book it looks like it should go to 100000 miles before it needs changing, I am a bit confused with it.

I think the engine is GQ0 so by looking at the service book i think that was just a normal service interval which i am sure was 100000 miles.

any help would be great i am up to 108000 so i know i have some time left before i need to worry about it but would just like to get as close to an official answer as possible.

cheers

Tom

I'm getting mine done quite soon at 60k but when I asked at Skoda they said it's 60k/4 years for the 1.9 diesels. This seems to be general consensus on here as well. HTH

Yep, 60k or 4 years, which ever comes first.

It's the same on all 1.9PD's across the VAG range, 60k miles or 4years. Better change it now or risk your engines health.

Not so, some are 80k depending on engine code and model year.

well this is where the confusion has come in, the dealership said it needed doing at the 80K service when i had that done about a year a go. but looking in the service manual it seems a bit confusing on what it actually should be, as it lists the engine for 60K 80K and 100K so i either have another 20K miles or another 40K miles till i need it changing as i am sure it's not going to be 100K.

if i don't get anything solid i'll have to just assume 60K and get used to having to do it more often to save my self a new engine just in case
