Coming Home Headlights

Featured Replies

Just noticed in the handbook that this was an option on the MkI

Octavia.

Has anyone got this and is it something that can be enabled with VAGcom?

I had this on my last car, a MkII Octavia L&K estate and personally speaking I would have prefered to turn it off . I usually parked backwards in my driveway for ease of exit and with the Xenon HID lamps all I did was light up my neigbours house across the road whenever I arrived home or needed to get something out of the the back of the car after dark. When I actually needed them I would park facing my garage so I could see to unload, however the lights turned off automatically after 30 seconds even though the back of the car was still open. Another good idea ruined by Skoda not thinking it through properly !

Like Julian I reverse into where I park my car, so was thinking of wiring up the reversing lights to the courtesy lights to give me a wee bit of light for a few seconds. And they can always be re-activated by un/relocking the car.

There's a guide on how to do the headlights (ie wire them to the courtesy lights) here.

Sorry, can't help with VAG com.

My Octy MK 1 has "Coming Home Headlights"...Its a 500 watt halogen flood lamp bolted to the side of the house and comes on every time I pull onto the drive:thumbup:

If you had an L&K you could have turned them off.

Also, moving from auto to off and back kills the come home function.
