When was it built?

Featured Replies

Just noticed on my Skoda 7 day get you home insurance that my brand new Roomster 3, stock vehicle but still at the factory according to the dealer, is listed as built in 2007!

That's a huge disappointment, or hopefully it is a typo error. Can you tell from the spec lable in the service handbook when it was actually built please?

I have always understood that the engine number or chassis number can be used to identify the true date of manufacture. Exactly how I am not certain, maybe a call to Skoda UK.

One other method is to look at the date stamps on some of the internal fittings. Car manufacturers have rarely held these items in stock, using a system known as 'just in time'. Basically, the items arrives on site on a fixed and tight schedule that is dictated by the number of vehicles being constructed on any one particular day. Hence the dates stamps will be within a week or two (at the most) of the vehicles manufacture.

Hope this is of help to your quest.

Thanks very much to both for your replies. It must have been a typo error, although I cannot even remember being asked for the build year.

The year according to the decode was 2009, so the information from the dealer was absolutely spot on.

Fluffmeister's posting has given me a few moments of fun as I too have run both links-fortunately all is as expected...

I'm looking forward to decoding mine when I receive me car next week. It will be interesting to see if there is any dealer 'asset stripping' going on prior to them selling on.

It does make you think that way! I'm happy that I got mine exactly as described and it is very easy to get in and out of with my creaking joints! If only I could now sort this aerial problem out!

You need to swap the the antenna you have for a Honda s2000 antenna. Costs about £20-25 and it's a straight swap. No loss of reception but about 3-4 inches shorter. I wouldn't want to cut the exisiting antenna as it probably wont work properly after.

You can see here how short it is (He says hoping Fluff had it fitted in this photo, it looks like it....)

I had a search about and indeed the S2000 antenna is about £20 but there is this compatible bee-sting aeriel that looks interesting and it only costs 7 quid.

Honda S2000 SHUTTLE STREAM BEE-STING AERIAL MAST ANTENNA

I'm linking to the silver one but they also have platinum black.

The interesting thing is that it comes with three different lengths of mast. Presumably, the mast bit is black and the rest is silver... which may not appeal.

Mast lengths are 110mm, 170mm and 270mm.

Just throwing the option into the ring.

I tried one of those solid masts on my fabia, they really don't do a lot for the reception and they are solid which means if they get caught they will cause damage. The OEM Honda one works well.

I was stood next to a Roomy 3 in the supermarket carpark and it seemed that I'll be ok for garage clearance but I'll only find out on Tuesday when I get mine and are able to get it home. I'll hold off buying a replacement antennae - even though I desperate to buy allsorts for it!
