10" netbooks - why didn't I wait ?

Why resort to locking yourself away in the study to log onto Briskoda, when you sit in the front room with one of these babies from ebuyer, watching the Grand Prix etc, using a wifi connection.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10E Laptop - Laptops at Ebuyer

Good spec, fine if you don't need a disc drive (just plug in a large USB hard-drive if necessary), good size built in hard-drive, and about the price of a medium/high spec pocket PC. 5-star rating as well.

I bought the Advent 4211 a while ago which was dearer and has a smaller memory - still not too disappointed though, as it is still good at all the things I got it for.

£80 off. That's a pretty good deal. I'm skint though :o

small battery and lower than average resolution (1024*576) screen with narrow viewing angles

The problems with netbooks of that size, is they are getting to be as big as normal laptops but are less powefull with less features and cost almost as much as an entry level proper laptop.

I like my EEE 401, nice and small with very long battery life (4hrs+) and does exactly what it says on the tin.

Think I'd have to disagree on the size issue. Weight differential is also huge.

Yes - if you need the features, buy a pucker laptop - if you want the convenience of wireless surfing, netbooks take some beating, especially since you can use them for plenty of other things as well.

I've got a 4211, (MSI Wind rebadged) which I purchased from a certain Mr Gwilo of this address, and it does an excellent job as a web browsing machine. Only trouble is trying to pry it out of SWMBO's hands!
