Been quoted for cambelt change...

Featured Replies

By my tame mechanic.

As long as I supply the kit (£79 off vwspares.com) he'll fit it, and do an oil change for £80!!!!

I think I'll get the water pump changed at the same time just to be sure it doesn't give up.

Very happy with that price!!

I ended up doing my last belt and water pump on a 1.9tdi for free for a mate.

Cant beat a bit of home jobs.

Bargain :)

He is a mug ;)

He is a mug ;)

If his mechanic is just his mechanic then calling him a mug is fair game but he could also be his best friend or close friend so then IMO it's a bit harsh calling him a mug.

you're overlooking the wink ;)

Nah i didnt overlook the wink, My interpretation of it reads, He is a mug but bite his hand off at that price. Still called him a mug which I think is harsh. :)

He is a mug for doing it for £80 mate or no mate...lol

I'm a mug all the time, too damn kind.

I'll agree with you there you are too damn kind. I still need to sort you out with some kind of present for sorting me out with that reverse light switch multiplug you supplied me.

I must be a mug also then because tomorrow I'm doing my mates discs and pads and changing his lower arms for nothing buts thats where i disagree with being called a mug because I will do him a favour and he will then do me a favour when I need the use of his expertise. And in my opinion thats how mates should be.

Aye I have plenty of tradesmen in my back pocket ;)

Lummox (aka Unit18)

Your not a mug at all, kindness is rewarded in the way of good rep, which will get you more work.

From your rep, I would probably have had stuff done by yourself in the past. (cupra bush's).

He is a bit of a mug really..;)

He does quite a bit of work for me very cheap. But then, I send him a shed load of business. It's really hard to find a mechanic you can trust to do a good job.

He's worked on my cars for a good few years now, he also looks after SWMBOs car, and mothers. Much as he complains about me, I know he appreciates the business I send him. As Lummox will tell you, a word of mouth reputation is far more valuable than anything else.

And, to be fair, I've looked after his computers for years!

I can think of a decent sparkie and an IT technician. Who else is lodged back there? :D
