Remap help required

Featured Replies

I had my mk1 vRS remaped and didn't like it so I asked to have removed very shortly afterwards. I now feel that the car doesn't perform like it did previously. Where could I get it flashed back to the manufacturers standard. Any help would be greatly appreiciated.

If it ain't broke don't fix it I suppose.

Dealers would be best bet I would think though a decent mapper usually keeps a copy of the original in case of problems with the remap. Who did the remap for you?

I would rather not say who did it, however I took it back and the car doesn't feel right. Do you know a main dealer who would be willing to flash it back to manufacturers settings? I suspect it may have a 150 bhp map? (If thats possible?)

I could look at it for you, you can either come and see me or post me the ECU if you can manage without the car for a couple of days

I'm only about 1-1.5 hours away from you.

I had the same happen to me as I wasn't happy with certain aspects of the power delivery. The original map was put back on for a couple of weeks 'till a new map was available and it really did feel like it was running 130/150 bhp rather than 180, even though it was back to how it left the factory. In the brief time it had been on the car, I'd got used to the extra 'go'. It was the original map and James at Chipboost still has my factory map on his laptop - just in case.

Now however, after a few weeks with the new map, I'm beginning to wonder if it still has all the power it first did. I know it's me getting used to the uprated power output, but that's how it goes I suppose.

How long did you have that particular map on the car?

I know what you are saying, however It definitely feels flat low down the rev range, I only had the map on for 3 days. I could pay someone to have it checked on a rolling road I suppose, but I can't really see the point as I have owned the car for 4 years and I can tell the power delivery is different.

mmm

wont red dot was it?

lol

I think if they put a 150 map on mate you wont be able to start the car. The above put the incorrect map on mine and once the car cooled she was dead.

the std map is flat low down mate. same happened to me as I went back to std fro a while. you need to rev the nuts off the std map to get power out.

what was it about the map that was not good?

No, I had the car mapped by a reputable company. however I know that I am now driving in a higher gear than I used to just to keep the car responsive. I know what you are all saying however i suspect it is different. I would be happy to get it flashed back just in case! Thanks anyway:).

You know your car - as all of us do. I guess the one way to know is to rolling road it, although this costs you money and shouldn't really have to happen if things had been put back to normal. Sounds like you should take shark 90 up on his offer then.

Depends on your ECU numbers but if I don't already have it I can get it

I'm in Mansfield, most evenings are OK (although it might be harder to get hold of the map if I don't already have it) or I guess Saturday. I'll send you a PM.

Cheers
