Rusty backbox?!!

Featured Replies

Had a look under the car today and noticed a rather large amount of rust on the underside of the backbox :eek:. Poked with my finger a considerable amount of the nasty stuff fell onto the floor. It hasnt gone all the way through yet, but has anyone else with a vRS of 4 years old had the same problem? Im summing up my options and want to know what you guys think is best considering I do not want a stainless system, do I;

1. Get it patched up.

2. Get a different backbox off of say a landrover (cheap you see), and might make it sound a bit different.

3. Get a new backbox from Skoda (could be expensive).

Cheers everyone, lets see what you think!

Your quite a way from me! So an off the shelf box would have to do. What are the best ones to go for would you say? Any idea on prices for just the backbox? I have a feeling its going to be expensive, so a patch might have to do for now :thumbdwn:.

I may know of someone that may have a magnex back box for sale very soon ;):thumbup:

I wouldn;t worry - ours has been like that for about three years (it's now 8 years old) and it's still OK as it's just the outer heatshield rusting (it's at least double skinned).
