New VRS for

Featured Replies

I know I've mentioned how pleased I was with the deal I got for my brand new '09 VRS CR DSG, but I've just had it rubbed home to me again!

Someone had posted a link in the 'Pix of LE VRS please' thread to the Skoda Used Car Locator, which I had never stumbled across before. Skoda Used Car Locator - Results

To my amazement there is a Sept '08 Octy VRS in Race Blue advertised on the site there, with nearly 9,000 miles on the clock for £16,495 - that's £270 more than my brand new one and it has a lower spec!

For my money I got (over and above the spec of this car)

  • an '09 plate (higher trade-in ultimately)
  • only 5 miles on the clock
  • the metallic colour I wanted
  • DSG gearbox (this one's a manual)
  • maxidot
  • a full year's road tax (I bet this one doesn't)
  • three year's free servicing
  • six months' longer manufacturer warranty

That's made me feel even better about the deal I got! :orb_bounc

Looks like not a bad price you got it for, and i don't mean to rain on your parade, but....

We all know how much we can save off the forecourt price, at least 10%-20%

When i was first looking about a month ago you could get brand new vRS's with online discounts from £14k, looks like the supply has dried up a little as they're about £16k but still great value. It does amaze me who would want to spend as much on a used car though, but there are people out there that blindly walk into dealers & just accept what they say is the truth!!

To be fair though, that one you are comparing to is a rip off!

In Dec 08 I paid a franchised dealer less than £12k for a 12-month old vRS TDi with 6,000 miles on the clock, 18" wheels, maxidot, jumbo box, aux port and sat nav. The one on the website is overpriced and then some! But then, when I was looking for mine I found that playing the different dealers off against each other ("look how expensive you are compared to them!!") was a great way of getting money off.

dealers and private sellers will always chance their arm price wise.

the lowest avaiable new price does not mean that the default useed price must be lower.

I got a race blue estate vrs,18"zeniths, maxi-dot, sunset glass, silver roof rails, jumbo box etc etc for less than 16k, as pointed out this is not remarkable but it also does not mean that some fool cant just march into a dealer tomorrow and pay more for a used '08 plate equivalent.......
