Servicing & Electric windows ?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have a 57 plate scout that i have had for 10 months now and am delighted with, compared to my old scenic its amazing:) great mpg, and no rattles and bits dont fall off !!!

I have a couple off questions.

Firstly servicing, i got the car from JCB in basildon (who are no more) do i have to use a skoda / vag dealer? as i have an excllent local garage i have been using for years an i trust them, however i dont want to bugger up my warrenty ?

Secondly my car does not have rear electric windows and my kids find the winders really stiff to use, would it be possible to fit eletric winders to the rear or would it cost silly money ?

Thanks Dan:)

You can use any VAT registered garage and as long as they use VAG bits then it wont effect your warranty.

None of them have electric rear windows unless you specced it I think. I reckon it would cost the wrong side of £500 to get them installed. The winders will free up after a bit of use if not get it in for a warranty job

Decron, I'm being a bit pedantic, but shouldn't that read "Skoda" or "Skoda approved" bits, not "VAG" bits? I know in the majority of cases it'll be one and the same thing, but no doubt if a VW bit was used instead of a Skoda one they'd use it was a way of wriggling out of the warranty!

They have Audi and VW logos all over them. Be as pedantic as you want they are are still "VAG" bits.

Thanks Decron,

I know my garage will use the correct parts so ill stick with him:)

I will try and have a look at another roomy to see what their winders are like as mine are very stiff ! my 7 year old can not close his widow once he has opened it which can be a pain when we are on a journey !!!
