Picked up a MK1 Octavia VRS last week after a month of searching and I'm really happy with it. It's a 53 plate with 80k on the clock with full service history, and it's a real good example.

It's my first Turbocharged car though, so i'm still getting used to power delivery as it's a little different from my previous cars.. (MK2 Golf GTi 8v and Corrado VR6).

I've only heard good things about these cars, and so far so good!

I paid £3795 for it, which I believe was a good deal. You're looking at anything in between £3500 to £4500 for a good example with low miles. Good luck!

nice one..well done..i'm lookin a bit cheaper n found quite a few 51 plates with 100K (ish) which look pretty good..but then fotos can be deceptive..as I found out after a wasted trip to bristol recently..even worse I got my mate to give me a lift there n back just 2 look at a pile of cack on (kerbed) wheels !! put sum fotos of urs up 2 have a butchers at:D

I know exactlty what you mean. You drive all that way to get back in your car abd drive straight home. Gutted! I drove to Lydney in Gloucestershire one weekend to do just that. Pulled on to the forecourt, took one look at the really bad paint touch up job, got back in my car and drove home. My advice for you would be ask the seller to email you specific photos. Like the seat bolster, the alloys and the corners of the bumpers etc...

Also mention that you're coming a long way to view the car and ask them to be as honest as possible.

yeh, think im gonna have to start doing that..every vrs im comin across so far is either dodgy or a sack of cack..or sold..!! buying a decent motor is definitely a waiting game..so many dodgy oct. vrs being sold by dodgy blokes..maybe its just a bad week to look..!!
