Indicator problem HELP!!

Featured Replies

Hi people,

I have an intermittant problem with my indicators. They seem to flash twice as fast as they should excatly like they do when you have a fused bulb. I have checked all my bulbs and all are ok. all left and right signals work, just click twice as fast.

Had the car to a dealer who diagnosed the problem to the hazzard light switch, so that was replaced. seemed ok for a day or so and is now back again??

I have noticed that this ONLY seems to happen in the rain or after washing the car.

I think water must be getting into something and causes a short circut then when drys out works fine again??

Any one had this problem or any ideas how to resolve??

I dont have a clue where to start looking

the clicking is slowly driving me mad lol

Hi there

I have had similar fault myself where my indicator sounds like its going mad. I sprayed contact cleaner down the indicator stem to get to the switch gear and its worked fine since. I am a taxi driver and the Superb is a common car on the rank and so far at least four other drivers have had the same problem and cured it this way.

I think that I've read here or elswhere that this is a failing of the Audi A4/A6 that has poped up on Passat B5/B5.5 and now Superb. It seems that contact dust (swarf) can end up causing problems - but normally they seem to be more intermttant one so two flashes when the indicator have not been switched on - as said above, a "wash out" or "flush out " using something like electrical switch cleaner is all that is needed - taking care to catch the washed out bits and fluid on an old towel etc placed below the steering wheel.
