Is that a greyhound I see before thee. looks about as awake as ours does in these, shot with a d70s and the first one is with a 50 mm lens just to keep it on topic...

May I suggest next time, you stop the lens down just a tad. at 1.8, the DoF is pretty small and it could just be the focusing / narrow DoF but the first photo looks just a bit soft. You could knock it back a smidgen to 2.8, still have fast shutter speed and it would probably look a bit cleaner.

But you're probably going for the arty look, so I'll shut up
