Claying lubricant

Featured Replies

Can you use water as the lubricant for the meg's quick detailing clay kit?

the reason i ask is i ran out of the quick detailer spray and the clay is nowhere near finished with.

maybe water with a shampoo? like autoglym shampoo?

just a thought before i go and buy a new bottle with money im starting to lack now im on short time :/

hey mate i use dodo juice lub its great

I've recently read about Bilt Hamber clay that you can use with water as a lubricant.

As far as I know, most of the others require something like Megs Last Touch or QD.

Might be worth searching on A world for detailers... to see i anyone has any cheap and cheerful recipes for home made lubricating sprays.

If you do go the Megs Last Touch route, consider buying in bulk 1 gallon packs - it works out a lot cheaper in the long run. Especially if you can find someone that lives near you to go 50:50 on it

Meguiars Last Touch Detailer

Some shampoos can break the clay down. Meg Last Touch is worth getting as you can use it as a drying aid and quick touch ups.

Just to add to a few other people's responses, Megs LT is what I am using and as has been said the bulk buy is the better option as you can cut it as you see fit but also use the Megs LT as a drying aid............

As has also been said some shampoo can degrade the clay so you need to be careful of which one your using............:o

Megs LastTouch everytime!

Having used Sonus Clay Lube and Megs Quick Detailer, I would recomend Megs

I found Sonus very messy.

I,ve been using megs quick detailer spreay for a while.

I then found out that water with a tiny drop of fabric conditioner is every bit as good, I've used this three times and it's been great....no probs whatsoever.

cheap, works well...no issues, give it a go honestly!

I had the same bother mate ,loads of clay left but no detailer,so i used shower gel and water mix, works just as well too

so i ordered some bilt hamber off ebay, as andy2407 said you use the tap water for the lube and it's supposed to be quite good?

brought up this thread to save money and ended up spending double! stupid mistake :/ never mind!
