Canon 1000d..... Opinions???

Featured Replies

I'm thinking about getting back into photography again and getting a dSLR. I still have my old Canon EOS1000fn SLR with 2 or 3 lenses and have seen the 1000d which looks to be pretty good.

Anyone have any opinions of this camera???? I've always got on well with Canon cameras hence me looking at this one.... I'm assuming i'd be able to use the lenses that i already have from my 1000fn with the new camera??? Have seen a few good deals for the body on it's own rather than packs with lenses included.

Plenty of time till i get it also as it'll probably be an anniversary present from the mrs later this year.

Cheers

Your old EF lenses will fit on, no problem.

It depends what you intend on doing with it, and how much you're going to use it. You could even look at some second hand 30/40d's if you can stretch a little further with the budget.

I started with a 350d for a couple years and have upgraded to the 50d. For they type of photography I do the 50d is leagues apart. But, saying that, I was 100% happy with the 350 for most things. So it really depends on how much you're going to be into it and what you're going to be shooting (looking at it, things like sports or low-light stuff won't be the 1000's forte).

A mate of mine has used a 1000d for some landscape shots and said he got some decent shots, so should be good

I've had my 350d for 4-5 years and think it's a cracking camera :)

my son recently bought one of these and is delighted with it, although haven't yet seen ant of his pics

Well just to follow up on this thread..... I was looking at the 1000D and also started looking in to the 450D. I have a workmate who has a 450D so had a play with his camera and was happy with it. I have done a lot more research into the differences between the two and for what they are and how they will or more likely not affect what i use the camera for i think i will save the £100 or so and go for the 1000D.

I have an old school firend who is in to photography a little too and having seen a lot of her pictures asked her which camera she had thinking it was at least a 450D only for her to tell me it was the 1000D so that was included in the decision also.

Well thanks for the input guys just got to wait till a nice deal comes along then get one bought. :)

Cheers

Dave.
