First time with collinite 476s

Featured Replies

The mongrel was given a coat today. Started off with a quick wash & dry down as the car was not dirty at all really, and it was clayed & zymol'd the previous weekend so the paint still felt really good.

Made the effort to go to Halfrauds up the road and get a pair of megs applicators. Great how they were the same size around as the tin of wax. Was not too sure how thick to put it on, but following a brief guide on detailing world, I sprayed the pad with speed detailer a couple of times, then half a twist on the wax to do an area roughly 3 or 4 square feet. Some places I think I went on a bit thick as buffing off was a bit tough. The pad made applying it real nice though.

Not doing the next coat until tomorrow as the clouds have rolled in over Exmouth and the last thing I want is rain when I am half way through buffing off the wax  Still, even after the first coat I am impressed immensely at how smooth the paint feels to the touch.

Engine bay detailing tomorrow as well - today I just gave it a Cif Citrus Burst blast, and rinse off agitating with an old washing up brush.

:wrthless:

It doesn't look that great at the moment, just "clean" :)

Once I get through my tub of nattys blue, i think I'll give this stuff a go

i found with collinite to give it a light coat then the next time you wash it another light coat. however i did the full AG treatment last weekend washing, claying, resin, gloss then collinite and then a very light spray of AG aqua wax and the car still looks clean today with all the dirty rain. all the water has beaded to pin head size drops and looks really nice. next wash i will do another thin coat of collinite and that should be it for a few months.

We had a light shower after I came in so glad I never went for that second coat attempt. But I did notice it beading a little better than before, so tomorrow I will go for probably 2 coats in all, with a little check over first to ensure paint is totally free of all tar spots.

I've been really impressed with it so far. Put a layer on the other week, then another layer the following day, washed the car last weekend and instant beading :). Planning on giving the car another wash tomorrow and another going over with it and then leaving it for a while.

Key thing to remember is a little goes a long way and pays great benefits when removing the product after the initial application..................

Make sure that your surface is completely clean though before applying coats days apart otherwise you will trap in dirt and potentially scratch the paintwork with the applicator pad...............:o

I have been running my hand over all paintwork before applying wax. :o Anyone looking at me would think I was feeling up my car.... And the little goes a long way certainly is true. Often due to the light, it is tricky to see anything going on at all and it's only clear once it hazes up after 5 or 10 minutes. Once it's been buffed off though, I did notice a kind of chalky bitty residue left in some places, so I went over the whole buffed area with another clean cotton cloth to remove it all.

Paintwork is really smooth now though. I put a bottle of trim gel on the roof while I was doing some black trim up, and even though the slope was really small, the bottle started to slide toward the windscreen.... Caught it in time though.

:rofl::rofl: nuff said jase we know your fantasies but remember its a family site ;)

I'm putting a single coat on every time I wash the cars (3 of them) until the tin's empty. My applicator pads are now absolutely impregnated with wax.

A word of warning - don't try and melt it to smooth out the last little bits from the corners of the tin It 'splits' and mine refused to recombine properly. I had thick hard brownish wax and thin white wax. New tin required!

the only problem i can see doing one coat one day and the next coat the next day is any micro contaminents that get on the car in the night. i prefer to either do two coats in one go or build up three coats over three washes (one on each wash).
