VRS Daylight driving lights

Featured Replies

I've normally thought the aftermarked copies look just chavy but as these are getting more common in VAG cars and having just seen the pic of the facelift VRS I just played with photoshop and now I'm not sure.. :D

Chavy or not bad?

Usually I would hate anything like this but that does look rather good actually.

Colour code the grill surround and get some mesh behind the lower grill and that would look mean.

Looks good

I agree, looks good!

If mine wasn't a company car I would definately do this. I really like the menacing look.

As for the lights it's normally the location that makes things a bit chavy. Copying Audi under the lights is a no no but these bits either side of the lower grill that do nothing seem an ideal choice.:)

Seen similar on a few Audi's

I forget who makes them in a strip you can order by size to fit your installation point.

Tacky and cheap looking IMHO.

i was going to get some leds to go there or a thin strip to go between the light and wing. instead i just used vag com and enabled north american light setting which puts the front lights on when driving apart from when the handbrake is on and leaves the back lights and dash pod lights off.

Mine's a Company Car, but still has a Colour Coded Grille - it's nothing significant and purely aesthetic, so shouldn't be any worries RE Insurance etc etc - takes 5 mins to swap for an OE one too

Not too keen on the lights being there - those panels don't 'do nothing' - would be ****e if you had to access the towing eye for example... ;)

Doh!:D:thumbup:

I like them

looks the dogs knackers

I thought that the new Octavias are beginning to have driving lights incorporated within the front fog lights. According to the owners' manual that is.

You are joking right  look at those PIAA prices 4x others if you search around for led daytime running light kits

Also, why do PIAA say they're not suitable for on-road use?

Maybe as they become more common in the UK i will change my mind, but at the moment i think the DRL (i.e. on audi, etc) look crap no matter where you put them.

The local VW dealer to me seems to be putting out all there new 09 plated cars with Scandinavian lights on full time, Volvo style.... the 09 VW's i see without the local dealers "stamps" are all normal so nothing from VW to comply with EU (2011?) running lights on all the time rules.

Don't think it really is such a bad idea mind you and might ask my dealer to re program mine for all the time dipped when the cars goes in for a service.

James.

If you spec auto lights on your Octy, I've found that they pop on in bright sunny light if you breach 90mph!

On the race track of course....

i cant understand why they going for full scandinavian mode when north american mode uses less power and doesnt light up the bulbs that dont need to be on i.e. the rear ones.

That's what i thought. Thought some of the owners switched the lights but over the last month 75% sure that's what they have set up on all the new local VW's, and when I saw a VW Scirocco (nice looking car by the way:) ) start-up in a car park yesterday, the guy did not have time to switch his lights on. 99% sure now.

So I should ask my dealer for north american mode then? no rear lights just the front ones new Audi style?

anyone with a vag com can do it and probably cheaper than the dealer.

I would need to find some with VAG Com 1st! I was think of going along the lines when cars in for service "by the way would mind as you have it plugged in...." or are the money graphing souls going to bill me for half-a-hour labour?

James.
