PD160 Much improvment

Featured Replies

Looking to put a pd160 on my Fabby, Looks like quite alot of you have put it on, just wondering how much difference it make in the overall performance thanks yall lol

Hardly any, at todays prices I wouldn't bother ;)

On it's own nothing.

Would the money be better spent on a strut brace then do you think?

It allows a bit more free revving at the top end, however as mentioned, you need something to take advantage of it, which would be a remap :)

Unless you do track days, no. Another waste of money and makes air filter changes a royal pain the in the backside.

Another kitten dead...

There must be at least 10 previous topics asking exactly this question and re-opening the can of worms lol.

Kev

i had mine fitted, along with a green panel filter, before its first run on the rollers at Jabba pre-remap and it put on 138BHP but i dunno what i was putting out with the standard small intake so the increase over the quoted standard 130 could be a placebo!!! :D

Can of worms anyone.......................... :P

i disagree with the first part, i found the strut brace made a huge difference to my car, the front end felt much much tighter and i rate it as one of the best purchases i made and i didnt expect it to feel much different when i bought it which was only taken as i was buying other things from the seller and just took the brace as a package with the rest.

as for changing the filter... yes, doing that with the brace on will cause a grown man to cry  although it is possible.

Keith is it really that good??

I have been toying with fitting one when I have my bushes uprated this month but for the price, £55 ish from SEAT dealers, I couldn't find enough positive comments to justify the outlay. (Although i said the same thing about my Jabba RARB and that it awesome!)

i rate it well, it benefits my driving style anyway.

i guess its one of these things that you'll either notice or you dont. if you drive sensible all the time then its a waste of time.

Must admit, i found the front end alot tighter as well Keith

Had it on my FR Ibiza, ran the vRS without it then tried it on and felt a difference in handling

Brace helped mine to i felt but the pain to change the airfilter put me off it so i sold it....

PD160 doesnt do anything i dont think... just like my BMC lol

Front brace does sharpen up the steering, Add a roll bar and springs/coillies and the handling is transformed.

Surely you just remove the brace if you need to change the filter? It's only 6 top mount bolts and the vacuum thingy.

Yeah sounds easy but the top mounts of the struts on the Fabia are rubbish... ive had to replace one of mines as the retaining nut dropped off

The top bolts are relatively soft and are liable to shear if you're not careful

I think i did open a can of worms there, thanks any way chaps :)

I would like to let just one more worm out: I fitted the brace Monday and have noticed more direct steering when really pinning it. However if I'm honest.. I just wanted an excuse to do a 'first mod' and chose the brace cus it was easy. Haven't tried to change a filter yet!

Also planning fitting the PD160 intake very soon.. then a remap! (another worm?)
