I am a happy man again!

I managed to get rid of the most irritating rattles in my car this week.

1. Boot trim that goes up to the bottom of the screen. The bit that goes up and over the wiper motor (or where the wiper motor is) was vibrating at certain engine RPMs and driving me insane. I solved this by stuffing some waste paper in to it and making the trim fit tightly. :D

2. Glovebox rattle solved by using those square sticky pads (http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/images/se/sellotape-sticky-fixers-140-pads-%5Bpack-6%5D.jpg) to replace the stupid little nipples that skoda used. I have about 3 of the pads stuck on the glovebox lid (on each side) and 3 stuck on the glovebox frame itself. The glovebox now shuts tightly and doesn't rattle at all. :D

Silent motoring again! Apart from the door trims which rattle over rough terrain but I just turn the music up a bit if that happens :D

Nice one, must admit interior rattles drive me nuts and are the 1st thing to get fixed when I buy a car.

Ive never known a car for rattles for the Fabia! Only thing i can fault it on! :thumbdwn:

It is one of the things that let it down - but if you read here often enough every creak/rattle has it's own cure :D

I havent yet managed to solve the annoying noise that comes from the front passenger seat yet

I bet it's the seat belt stalk vibrating against the transmission tunnel :D

agreed, slide the seat forward or undo the torx screws and move it over a little bit,

That's the easy one to fix  as said above. Seat belt anchor tapping centre consul. A bit of sticky back velcro on the centre consul cures it.

he he:D I like it lol

maybe i am too used to having a toddler in the car - but most annoying noises come out of his mouth! and thats saying somethin as my poor baby rattles like no ones business due to stupidly hard suspension and country lane driving.

I've given up on my rattles. My car just vibrates like anything, so I don't really care anymore. :D

Power steering and alternator have just gone on our Fabia vRS,,,,,,,,,

My glovebox rattles really loud, been meaning to to try and find the cause! will give this a go got a huge real of thick foam tape

I take it you mean the rubber nipple things that sit between the lid and the frame?

I do mean those, yes. I took them out completely (one was missing anyway) :D

Sweet :) they just pull out?

  • Author

Yeh they pull out easy as anything...

Good luck solving the problem - if it isn't the fact that the lid is loose it might be that the mechanism itself for opening the door is worn. Hopefully making the door a tight fit will remove any play in the opening mechanism but it doesn't necessarily guarantee a fix :)
