Bang... and the power is gone

Featured Replies

On the way home from work, slowed down as someone pulled out in front of me, soon as i went back on the power an almighty bang came came from the front of the car:eek:, initialy thought my tyre has exploded. a quick dab of the thottle soon comfirmed that wasnt the case! Wouldnt rev was very lumpy and cangarooy:thumbdwn:. limped it to a car park thinking this is going to be expencive, just after i got it re-mapped aswell... PD150 turbo hear we come :D

All top IC pipes ok, no tools so on the blower to the RAC. Hour and a half later of praying it was the bottom pipe tray comes off and my prayers are answered bottom pipe had blown off . popped it back on, im not covered for a tow if it blows off again so nice RAC man left me a pair of gloves and the under tray is in the boot.

Got home no probs but thought it might be worth replacing the bottom IC pipeclip? any thoughts on this?

Cheers

Definitely new clip time...

A nice shiny stainless steel Jubilee clip should fix this.

the pipes can wear where the clip goes , so maybe better to replace the pipe

take the pipe off and check the little bumps/ears on the metal part. if they have worn down a lot then you'll need a new pipe. £80 young sir!!

Quick update, the pipe blew off for the last time Saturday night. Typical its a bank holiday weekend and I can't get parts, my own fault for leaving it. The lugs on the pipe its self have completely rounded so putting it all back together no longer works. Thanks to the amazing people on this forum I found the tie wrap fix. First time after testing the results were not good, the second time I didn't push so hard and the pipe didnt budge so should get me to work tomorow and I can get a new pipe ordered, with new clips as well. Thanks for all your replys guys.

Oh and if people need it the P/N for the pipe according to my records is 6Q0 145 832 C. If this is wrong please correct me.
