inspection warning coming on too early?

Featured Replies

i have a 53reg fabia vrs registered 31 nov 03 and i have only done 4400 miles and yesterday the inspection warning came on, i thought it was 10,000 miles or 1 year for the service and the warning has came on 2 mths early is this normal, will i have to service my car now or can i wait till the end of nov which will take it up to on year as i wont hit 10,000 miles in one year

Perhaps it was built 12 months ago and the supplying dealer forgot to reset it during the PDI.

Give the dealer a call and they'll give you some advice. I know when my first Fabia did this I was told not to worry about it as I could stretch it a few weeks.

They do generally come on a few weeks or 1000 miles early to give you time to book the car in I find.

My octy is on variable servicing and has done 14.5k miles and is 18 months old, still no sign of it wanting a service ;) hope my displays ok and not faulty. I bet it will need servicing near xmas when I will have no money and no time :thumbdwn:

If I remember correctly mine came on between 18-19K for first variable service, unfortunatly the Skoda mechaninc must have used the dash buttons to reset the service light so my next service light came on at about 29K - to keep on variable teh service indicator must be set via the obd port. It was a variable service as I supplied the longlife oil.

My service me warning came on at 16000 ish and said I had 1500 miles to get it sorted, so not bad. Service at the dealer cost me
