Best (affordable) car in the World

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

I've had my Black Octavia vRS from new for about 6 months and I have to say its the best car I've owned! I like the fact that only those who know about cars realise what it is which really upsets BMW owners used to driving 3 inches from your bumper when you disappear in to the distance...

Can anyone help me answer a question though. A friend advised that due to the fact that the car is quite low it would be a good idea to get a sump guard fitted. Does anyone know where I could get one from? Are they available from Skoda?

Believe they are available from your local friendly Skoda dealer :D

And  to Brisokda.......

Hi oxonskoda... Presumed from Oxon? :D

Welcome to Briskoda,

Yes they are a very good idea, the sumps are easily holed/cracked, I think we know of three at least now, okay extreme circumstances, but they still go and mine has the odd scratch on it.

There is a post with the part numbers and prices by TAVIARS.

I must get one, but keep putting it off...never know when I'll need it and it will be too late then.

You can't beat upsetting a badge snob :D

 Would a little bit of airtime be a classic case? :D

Well I've cracked \ grazed one (welded repair), placed a small hole in one (replaced) and made a *youcangetthreefingersin* hole in my recent adventures... I think it's fair to say the more adventurous octavia drivers have all had some form of sump \ road contact....

..whether a sump guard is a good idea I'm not sure, they are not light (and the last thing the octy needs is to be even more nose heavy!) and a major impact will probably bend chassis rails... think I'll stick to replacing sumps as required.

(and yes, airtime usually comes just before contact :D)

 The memory of posts about the little "dual incident" is still fresh in my mind... :D

Yes, thought about that as I was up that way not long ago ;)

Marvellous - only posted a couple of hours ago and got exactly what I needed. Hmmm, engine and gearbox protector. I'll give the Dealer a ring this afternoon.

Yep, I'm from North Oxford. Near the bit of the A40 where all the speed cameras have been "customised" to point skywards or have mysteriously fallen over, which is handy...

Thanks to everyone who replied to my post.
