Getting Cruise Control fitted

Featured Replies

Just been allocated a 4 month old vRS in black, by my work. It belonged to someone else who left, hence I didn't get to choose the options. I am enjoying it but I need to get cruise control fitted.

Have read installation guides and it looks fairly straight forward but I am not keen on trying since I don't have access to the dealer diagnostic kit to enable it. Have spoken to my local dealer in Stevenage and he said no.

Has anyone found someone to fit it in the Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire area at a reasonable cost?

I had Cruise Retro Fitted to my car by a SEAT Dealer in Hull in the Morning for

Welcome to briskoda.

Local Dealer in stevenage, hmm MKG Motor Group. I got my RS from there 2 years ago and now know them well. They are a small dealership with about 4 staff in total including the workshop and sales dept. They have been helpful to me, and they even know I use my RS on track days and the Nurburgring in Germany. So far this has not affected 2 warranty claims for coilpacks. I do drop in on them quiet a bit for all the latest gossip, as they are about 5 mins from my front door.

Aparently according to my local dealer its not an after market option on Skodas but will be later this year, However I know some people have had the Golf kit fitted & it sounds like the Seat one must fit also, You just need to find a friendly dealer who can access the cars "brain" to enable it. suggest you grab your local phone book & look up local Seat, Skoda & VW dealers.

Depending how mechanically/electrically minded you are I believe you can fit the kit yourself & then get a dealer to enable it.

I did some digging around the links on my site and found This on Deans Octavia Page. Instructions on DIY Cruise installation.

Seat do not list the kit as an aftermarket kit as such, Its just that the dealer knew what bits he needed (A new Indicater stalk & a bit of wiring at the other end of the loom), plugged it in, enabled the Cruise via the Diagnostics & Hey Presto !!

Same old story Skoda UK taking an age to market what people want talk about finger on the pulse! I had my cruise fitted to my RS at a Czech Skoda Service Department at Mlada Boleslav no problem at all a year ago they could fit it to any Octavia over a certain power so I was told - cost

Thanks. Tried talking to local dealers but they kept muttering about invalidating warranty.

Decided to get it done outside the dealer chain by Stealth Racing next Friday.....Unless anyone knows why I shouldn't?
