Extended Warranty options (Skoda) ?

Featured Replies

My car is coming up for 3 years old before the end of the year. I see that a few owners have crossed over 3 years now, so what can Skoda offer on extending the warranty ?

With Subaru, if the car was still in warranty (3yr/60k) you could extend with various options on mileage/period, and it was a 'semi-official' Subaru warranty. ie it was underwritten by someone else but you basically had just as good cover as the official manufacturer's warranty, and the dealers didn't really quibble. I'd be interested in the same sort of thing as long as the price was civilised.

My car will hit 60k after 2 years , but I plan on keeping it for 4.

I can't find anything on Skoda UK's site about a warranty being available beyond the 3 year point. I did find Warranty Direct which provides an online motor warranty with a number of levels of cover. The top one for a car over 2 years old is called Gold and does not have a wear and tear exclusion. It seems to be pretty comprehensive but is also relatively expensive for my 4X4. Cover costs

My dealer didn't even bother to call me and offer anything.

Would be self-defeating. Better to try and sell you a new car ;)

Money for old rope as far as the dealer should be concerned. I've contacted Skoda customer services. From past experience with aftermarket warranties, I'd rather go the official route if there is one, even though a) They cost more and B) They are provided to the UK importer by the same people anyway !

Most dealers offer the Car Care Plan, 2 versions of which exist.

One (the Elita) will do you if your car is over 3 years old but the mileage is under 60k, the other (Optima) if it is over 3 years old and under 100k. They won't offer cover over this mileage.

BTW, Skoda UK take no responsibilty for either of the plans; a decision to repair under warranty is down to CCP themselves, and there's no recourse to Skoda UK.

loki, what is you sig a quote form?? i remember it but don't know where from?

Thanks double-L

Exactly what I don't want!

As far as I can work out from Car Care Plan's website, their product is designed for cars sold by dealers at the time of sale, ie Joe Bloggs can't buy it once his car is out of warranty. Having got quotes of

Put the money in the bank and don't bother with a warranty.

There's more get out clauses in them than in your average Premier League footballer's contract anyway :)

... unless the last one saved me over

Well, that's changed or very cleverly worded!

The sig is a quote from Ginger Snaps, a lovely little film about an adolescent girl turning into a werewolf... better than it sounds, I promise.
