Stopping the car "re-locking" if you unlock but don't open a door

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My friend is asking me if i can stop his Golf autolocking after a minute if he doesn't open a door after he's unlocked it.

I've searched around VAGCOM and can't find anything on this.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Ta,

I don't think it's possible, although it can be annoying to get to the car just as it locks itself again i personally would rather have it the way it is.

Imagine you lock the car, walk away whilst putting the keys into your pocket accidentally opening the car again! now if you have the alarm beeps enabled when the car is locked / unlocked you will at least hear it, if however the car is as it left the factory with this feature disabled you will be non the wiser that you have left the car unlocked.

I think it is not possible as IIRC for the alarm to be classed as Cat 1 for insurance it needs to have autolock.

Thanks both, that would make sense.

Personally, i don't see why he wants to do it for the same reasons you mention - but thought i'd entertain the idea as he was asking so nicely :P

If anyone does have a revelation on this i'm all ears :)

I've looked into this before and couldn't find a way to disable it.

It can't be

As apd007 says it's for the Alarm classification

have you tried disabling anti jacking as when i enabled it, this feature enabled automatically.

As a (related) aside, did the person at Castle Combe ever get back into their car after locking the keys in the boot? :) (A fabia vRS but not on our stand)

Yes, eventually. They had to wind down one of the rear windows. Moral of this story is if you've got electric windows and you lock your keys in the car, you're fooked!

And the lesson is NEVER to unlock the boot using the remote.

I keep my keys hooked to my belt unless i'm about to put them in the ignition...

MPM :)

I wouldn't mind de-activating it either !

I was lifting a fairly heavy vacum chamber into the boot,so i opened the boot, left my bottle of water and keys down on the boot floor, picked up the chamber, placed it in the boot, took out my bottle of water, closed the boot, walked to drivers door, then realised i had no keya, turned to walk to the boot and BEEP !! No fecking keys :rotz:

It's not really the end of the worls BUT i live in Mayo..............and i was in Cork City  (5 hour drive away)

Such a pain in the backside :D

Handy if you know someone with a spare set of keys and a mobile. ;)

If you lock your keys in your car and you have a remote keyless entry system, you can get outside help to open the car if you have your cell phone with you. Just call someone that has a duplicate key fob that will open your car. Then, hold you cell phone near the door lock and have the person with the key fob call you back. The person with the key fob should then put the key near their phone and push the unlock button. The door should open.

Ive not tried it myself but apparently it works.

Worth a test maybe?
