Recommend me an mp3 player

Featured Replies

Having just fitted an aux in socket to the car I am now looking for a decent mp3 player with fair amounts (>10 or 15gb) of storage space.

Budget is around £150 or under.

I owned an original ipod nano but unfortunately having not been used for about two years, the battery no longer works in it. I really liked the ipod interface/operating system but am unsure how the new nanos, or proper ipods, fare against the competition?

Any advice greatly appreciated! :)

Can you operate the MP3 player via the car's stereo controls, or would you have it in a cradle, and operate it directly?

You can get an 8GB ipod touch from amazon for £150, nice big clear screen, and easier to operate than trying to push fiddly buttons. you have the added bonus of being able to watch fillums, browse the net, and have GPS as well.

Not sure how the screen performs in bright sunlight though.

I would have it in a cradle and operate it directly, as I just have a 3.5mm point that I will be plugging in to through an audio cable :).

Can you open them?

Can you open them?

Yep, there's guides about on the internet, I seem to think that it should just pull apart. TBH you've nothing to lose.

Ipod's are, by far and away, the easiest mp3 player to use, and they look pretty

I may be wrong here but i have a 16GB iPod Touch and a 16GB iPhone 3G.

Only the iPhone has GPS. The iPod touch relies on Wifi to use google maps

You could get a refurb ipod classic 80 or 120gb for under £150 on the apple site. You do have to keep checking regularly, as stock changes dramatically.

How about the Sony NWZ-S639? 16GB in something about the size of an iPod Nano and sounds better than the Apple muck. :)
