Front suspension bushes.....

Featured Replies

2006 plate VRS, warranty expired 26/04/2009, 32,000 miles.

End of february I took the car back to main stealer, making godawful noise over any kind of bump, seemed obvious to me something wrong with suspension. Checked on here, probably the bushes worn out. Stealer said nowt wrong with it, normal for this car.

Take it in for 30,000 mile service early April, again pointing out problem with front suspension. Stealer again says nowt wrong with it, but service cheap and book is stamped so home we go. However clearly IS a problem with it, so take it somewhere else for it's first MOT (my own fault I left it til yesterday). Gets an advisory on MOT saying bushes on front suspension are knackered, and needs to be replaced but just good enough to pass.

I've rung the stealer back, and asked for an explanation as to why vehicle has "only just" passed it's MOT, just 3 weeks after they've given it a clean bill of health. What are my chances of getting the stealer to do the work for free, since in my opinion if they'd done the job properly in the 1st place, it would have been done under warranty.

I'd say that now that you have escaped from the "moral clutches" of Skoda UK, and if you have had given them the oportunity to "see you right" and they have said "no", then seek out your local VAG indie and get them to fit the Ibiza Cupra bushes. I'd also reckon that if you force your faithful and honest Skoda dealer to replace these bushes FOC then they would not bother checking out the current state of the four wheel geometry - so you would be in a lose lose situation by having had new crap ordinary bushes and maybe duff four wheel geometry. For other Skoda owner's benefit, it would be best if you went through the motions and name and shame your Skoda dealer and Skoda UK if they uphold his decision if it is "no", but for your personal benefit I'd just go the VAG indie route and give the dealer a wide berth, they have had a chance to sort things out within warranty and they will know this, Skoda UK might be interested in what was not done though - as long as the MOT has a written advisory - without that advisory you should have no chance of any redress I'd reckon.
