Ye Olde Skoda

Featured Replies

I know this may not be Briskoda territory but can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction please ?

When I was a lad (late sixties/very early seventies ??) my folks used to borrow a relatives car to whisk us away to N.Wales for caravan holidays, weekends etc.

This fine vehicle was (I believe) a "Skoda Octavia Combi", I recall it was some odd turqoise type of colour with a very light vinyl interior (lovely !!), strange, but the most memorable thing I recall about it is the large opaque knob on the top centre of the dash to turn the indicators on , which I think then flashed in time with them !

Any thoughts on where I might get any info about this almost forgotten (by me anyway....) vehicle anyone....?

Had a look in L & K Skoda Vol 2 and it sounds like an orignal Octavia Combi. Made around the dates you mention. If you want info on old Skodas, these two books are the bible: interesting text even if the translation is dodgy at times and loads of quality photos.See History sub forum for dealers where you can get a copy if you are interested.

I'd agree, that sounds like a classic RWD Octavia, so not only right website, but even the correct forum.

Frankly, anyone who turns up on this forum regularly is likely to be sufficiently into classics that they'll try and help out with identification regardless of what they think the car might be!

My friend down Somerset way was telling me there was a pair of octies and a Tatra for sale on flee bay down in Devon.

mmmmm.... Tatra...

Yeah I fancy a Tatra too!

Blimey, I go away for a few days and there's old Octavia queries springing up & cars going through on Ebay.
