replacing front brakes on fabia vrs

Featured Replies

hi,

Am going to get my front brakes replaced nextweek. I've bought the pads and the discs from skoda. Do I need anything else?

I wont be doing the job but usually i buy the parts and give to my mechanic friend to do it.

That should be your lot.

Gen pad kits come with the two caliper bolts.

aha cheers!!

do you also know what gearbox oil the fabia vrs takes? should i get this replaced too?

is it a fairly easy job for a mechanic?

No interval for the gearbox oil.

Genune oil is the way to go if you do wish to change it.

It looks pretty easy to change the front brakes, discs and pads. It is the rear ones you need a special tool to wind the calliper back, because of the Handbrake. It's only 3 bolts and 1 or 2 screws. I would give the 2 calliper mounting bolts a good soaking with release oil, PlusGas, WD40, etc.

If the new pads do not come with new calliper guide pin bolts (OEM should anyway) put a drop of Loctite thread locker on them. You only need to undo the lower one to change the pads
