Please Help, OEM mud flaps.

Featured Replies

So, I went to fit my OEM front mud flaps today.

All the screws went in fine but can't for the life of me work out how to fit the clip towards the top of the flap.

The diagram looks like it was designed with out the arch liner in.

Anyone else found this, or not found this?

Am I missing something here or is there a way around it, have most people just left the clips at the top off?

Cheers,

Rob

P.S. I did search and only found posts referring to the rears.

Come on, someone must have fitted mud flaps to a Furby vRS? They can't all have been done at the dealers?

I did mine about 4 years ago . I cant remember exactly what I did so I'll go find the instructions ( which I kept) and remind myself - back after tea.

The clip tucks in between the arch liner and the wing.

But personally I leave them off anyhow and just tuck the little rubber flap around.

Thanks! Enjoy the Cuppa!

Hmmmmmmmm, OK.. I'll go investigate this. Did you tuck the top half (50%) of the flap under the liner then from that cut out about 4in up in the liner? The diagram on the instructions defiantly shows the whole flap in front of the liner but it could always be wrong..

Still can't quite see how the little flap fixes with the provided clip to the wing with the liner in the way, here a pic.

I am pretty sure your arch liner is the wrong side of the wing.

If not you need to cut a slot in it.

Now there's an interesting thought... And you should know after all.

There's a chunk missing about 4in up front the screws, maybe the liner is meant to switch to being behind at this point.

Shall consult my Haynes.. But I think you may have cracked it Mr Lummox! Thanks!

If not, I'll be back ;)

Gave you another Thanks Lummox (Ross, Right?)

After a little Arch inner jiggery pokery the flaps are all fitted proper like and the arch liners are hidden away like they always should have been.. got no idea how they got like that but think it happened before I bought the car!

I see why you wouldn't bother with the clips, they're a pain to get on and they hold ok just tucked in.. but with the clips they pull in tightly to the wing.. and I'm anul about stuff like that! ;)

Interesting, where can I pick up a pair? How much?

Sorry I didnt get back to you but my router died and Ive been struggling with a BT hub thing that Ive had lying around but never used as it didnt have enough RJ45 sockets. Glad you got it sorted though. I now remember that I found pushing in the clips quite difficult, I did it eventually using large pliers.

Well, I got mine of eBay for £8, new.. they're only about £14 from a dealer though, they'll prob still be able to get hold of them I recon cuz they're standard fit on the Elegance.

Jules59, no worries mate.. I got it sorted :D

.

Thanks for the pics! Car looking very good mate and think I may be investing in some of these toward the end of summer

For Winter? Gotta be honest, my last Fabia had them and they don't do an amazing amount of "guarding".. however.. the few inches of wing behind them always polished up with the least effort ;)

The flaps look good. I am going to fit them one of these days. I have read on here that rear ones from a Mk 4 or 5 Golf fit the rear of the vRS.

Reflex, Just out of curiosity, What tyres have you got, I don't recognise the tread patten? Sorry for being a little off-topic.

They're "Accelera". They look great but unfortunately they're cheap and rubbish! They were on the car when I bought it.. I've got Toyo's in the shed just waiting for me to get a moment to fit along with 2 better wheels.
