Can an 18 year old get insured on a VRS

Featured Replies

Would AF insure an 18 year old with a years NCB on a VRS?!

Cheers

Good luck, I had quotes of £4000 or above from Adrian Flux with similar credentials. I think the best they did me was £3600. They said to come back once I was closer to 20 and had a couple of years no claims.

Try admiral (generally they quote the best for me when I put my details in) or go through the comparison web sites. Very few people will insure us young ones with a vrs and those that will will probably charge nearer to £2k than £1k per year.

i paid 1800 for my 1.4 mpi fabia at 17.

so am willing to pay that again.

I'm saying you won't get an £1800 quote from Adrian Flux as an 18 year old on a vrs, or at least I didn't 6 months ago... the quotes were more around £4k.

just had a quick search around on admiral

i can get insured come september for around 1850, with a £1000 excess though :o

jeez, is it really worth it?

I paid £1800 for my first year and didn't regret it for a moment, much to the disgust of a few older members on here :D

No , not at all.

Have a slow car like the rest of us had to and save your money

hahah!!

save my money for what? a rainy day?

VRS here we come!

Remember that if you are planning on modifying, all modifications will need to be declared to your insurer and may push the price up considerably :)

Hi,

I apologise for the delay in replying to you.

I can certainly look into it for you but as for the price until we have run through the details we are unable to say.

We do have some Insurers that will quote for an 18 Year old but the majority start at 19.

If you would like me to arrange a callback just so we can go through your details then please PM me your Name and Postcode and best Contact Number and time to call you.

Dan.

I'm sure the Skoda Fabia was 130bhp - At least mine was.

I had a vRS at 18. I know you can get insurance but it will cost you. Please just take it steady - I know I'm not the best example but an advanced driving day really would make all the difference.

I would suggest you save the money for the long term - I'm now in a Clio 1.2 16v and am proud to say that I'm paying for all my Uni costs myself.

If you not going to uni then why not save up and look for a flat/house for the future.

Hope this helps,

Rob

Yeah definently 130bhp!!

oh would take it easy! may be 18 but (i may be being a bit vein) im not a mad stupid driver, a saxo driver is a prime example!

Well I work at a university in facilities department, and the pays very good, so getting a VRS and the insurance isnt going to mean me taking out loans and getting into debt;

as for moving out, this isnt on the plan yet, plenty room at home for me :P!

cheers for the advice anyway!

I've been following this thread with interest...

I've just turned 19, got a 18 months NCB, and I'll be going full time at my job in the summer till I go off for a fully sponsored (accommodation and all) merchant navy engineering degree...as much as I love my car, I'd love a vRS more, and now it's not looking quite as impossible as before...hmm.

sorry i though he wanted a proper car octy vrs!!!! :P

im 20 and have a fabia 2 1.9 tdi (i know its only 105bhp) but my insurance at the mo with 1 years ncb is only about £600!!! and my 1.2 was £1200 when i was 18.

A couple of years makes a huge difference to the cost , doesn't it. :)

yep! when i go to renew insurance in august i will hopefully have 2 years ncb and will be 21 and got a quote atm of just over £370!!!:D

no. if you're willing to shell out a load of money on insurance (and why the hell not, it's not like you can take it with you) then unless you need a diesel for the mpg look at something else, something that's quick (rather than feels quick) and handles nice
