Skoda felicia wont start

Featured Replies

I have a Skoda Felicia 1.3 lxi 1997, everyday it takes at least 5 times to start, if I slightly tap the accelerator it helps a little bit but i just don't know what it is that's doing this? Also if it stands for a couple of hours it takes a few times to start again. Just wondering if any one knew what the problem is?

Thanks

Could be the starter or timing chain

Have the spark plugs been changed?

Mine was having problems starting earlier last month, fuel pump needed cleaning.

Why would it be the starter or timing chain captain?

Hi and welcome. I would have the oil, oil filter, air filter, and spark plugs changed if they haven't been done in a while. Then if that doesn't help much maybe the petrol filter too.

I would check the distributor cap, rotor arm, and leads. If in good condition spray a little wd40 over the top of the distributor cap and onto where the plugs go on top of the spark plugs.

Replacing the temperature sensor (or complete thermostat, if it's broken) and cleaning the throttle body would be a start.

:iagree: - my first thought was of the temperature sensor. The general fettle of the HT electrics won't do any harm, but it's easier to start a car with iffy HT system that knows when it's cold, or cooling down than one with good HT and no idea how hot the engine is!

Just a thought.

My uncles corsa 1.0 had starting problems but fired up without a hitch once its' timing chain was done.

My Dads Honda refused to start, the starter would crank but the engine just would not fire.

We noticed that there was a spark coming from the outside of the distributer cap.

Gave it a clean, then the car fired up fine afterwards.
