Refurb or new?

Featured Replies

Sorry that was suppose to be refurb OR new!

Anyway..... Hi!

My new Fabia VRS has 2 scuffed alloys, which if im honest bug me like crazy. Spoke to Skoda today who say that they can refurb the 2 alloys for $47 something each. However, I have found 2 alloys on ebay for £100 in good condition. What would you do is the big question?

Tanks a bunchies,

Gemma

(will post pictures when home from work)

Are the new ones £100 each, or for two?

go to a wheel specialist! then get them refurbished and resprayed :D

Get them refurbed and powder coated.

For 2!

It should be an easy decision.... I don't know though! I think If i buy this set off ebay, I then have to pay for them to be fitted and balanced etc, or just let skoda do it?

If they're pretty much mint, then I'd go for the eBay pair. I think I remember there being some big question marks over the quality of the refurbs that the Skoda dealers do?

Getting them refurbed at a specialist is also a good option, but then you'd have to either beg/borrow/steal another pair of wheels to run around with anyway, or have a car with two wheels sitting on your driveway for a while... :D

Go for the pair.

Then use one of the old ones as a spare and replace the 'space saver'. Then put the space saver and other alloy on eBay.

Hope this helps,

Rob

Hope it all works out

Ha you shouldn't worry, should hear some of the stuff my mum asks me about her Peugeot 307

If you aren't bothered about changing the colour get new ones, ultimately I'd think the durability of finish from the factory will be superior to even the best refurb jobs.

Agree with Rob, buy 2 from eBay, and replace the space saver.

Hope all works out

I should have checked right? This is in the wrong bit then? Im sorry im still getting used to the layout and knowing where to find each section is A PAIN!

Im a naughty girl!!!!! :rotz::rotz::rotz:

Keep the 100 notes in your pocket and find some octy spiders 100 notes for 2 fabia wheels is a joke i've scored full sets for way less money than that,in fact if you hang on a bit i may have a set of spiders coming up for sale when i find another couple to complete the set

I'll second that, you can't have too many wheels?!? (well maybe that is not true as I seem to have a few spare - but you never know). An extra stack of wheels in your garage makes an excellant place to store "things" on. Seriously though, if you do have the space, do intend to keep the car for a few years and have a space saver spare, then buying a couple of spares makes sense as tyres seem to wear in pairs (no surprise there!).

I thought this was an excellent reason for looking at wheel threads and fitting something different myself!!
