Skoda DIY oil & filter change

Featured Replies

I am a taxi driver and as I do a lot of miles I have, in the past, done my own oil and filter changes with a 2 mk Clio and 1 mk Almera.

I would like to do the same with my 55 plate Skoda Octavia Estate 1.9 PD DSG.

Can anybody tell me if there is either anything extra or different I need to know?

It's very easy to do with a pella pump and the correct socket. No need to get under the car and try and remove the engine cover and then sump plug.

I'd only use dealer supplied (eg OEM) filters.

I do a pella change at around 10k with the long life oil and then let that run through to the service indicator coming on. This means I still get a full variable service history, but also get the advantage of extra oil changes too.

 Whats a 'pella' pump change ? if it saves you from going under the car does it suck all the crap out ? never used one.
