spongy brakes on vrs

Featured Replies

One thing I hate on my vrs is the brake pedal has a bit of a spongy feel to it. I have driven a nearly new one and that was similar, is this a common thing? I will ask them to blead the breaks at the next service.

Can't comment on your brakes without trying em, but the vRS's standard setup is known for feeling a bit weak.. Should always stop ya though but if you really feel they aren't right then get them checked.

If they come back all fine and you really don't feel confident in them you could upgrade to the VAG 312 (I think it's 312) set-up, it's a straight swap. loads more info on the site about that if ya do a search.

Normal with most diesels as the servo vacuum is generated by a mechanical pump, rather than variable inlet vacuum. Takes some getting used to, but I now find I like it, as you can do more progressive braking. Last service I had the brake fluid changed, and it made very little difference TBH.
