Corrosion on Front Wings

Featured Replies

Washed SWMBOs 04 Furby at the weekend and discovered a couple of blisters on the bottom of the front wing near the sill. The paint is intact and the car is fitted with mud flaps, so I can only assume it is coming from the back of the panel. I'll be off to see the dealers shortly as this "should" be covered under the anti-corrosion warranty. Anyone else had this?

Just a warning to the rest of you that it may be worthile checking behind the wheel arch liner at the bottom of the wings as I suspect that a lot of crud may have built up behind there and caused the problem.

I found a 'brick' of crud/mud behind my nearside front arch liner when I had a problem with the washer bottle and had to take the liner out. I just give it a blow out up through the drain slot at the bottom with the hose when I wash it now, and fitted mudflaps, which seems to keep it clear. I can imagine there are probably alot of furbys about with this little pocket of corrosion just waiting to get started....not good!

Serviced my Mother's Fabia last weekend and found rust starting in the same place as on SWMBOs car. Time for another trip to the Dealers I think and this time I'll supply the photos for submission to SUK rather than relying on their camera phone!

I will have to keep an eye on my V reg'er then , coming up for 10 years old now though so I suspect a dealer will tell me where to go if I ask for it to be done free!
