My rear washer jet loves the arm too much

Featured Replies

Just noticed today my rear washer jet is half rotating with the wiper arm lol Its never done this before so i'm assuming its not normal... although it did almost shoot someone in the face

any ideas? I took the arm off but that didn't really help

ahhh mines does this too ??

Wow that's good, it means you get more coverage of the rear screen with the jet surely?

apart from when it hits pedestrians in the face

It means the wiper motor is leaking and has corroded.

very common on mk4 Golfs

Is the fabias pretty much exactly the same? looks easy enough to lube up apart from the damn boot trim :(

It may mean a new rear wiper motor is needed as the brass tube that is in the motor has corroded and started to break:thumbdwn:

Unfortunately the brass piece is NOT available seperately

Brass + water.... hmm who thought that one up

Any ideas on costs?

There is a repair kit for the rear wiper, if grease fails to solve it. See Briskoda - rear screen wash repair kit It saves you £85 for a new wiper motor.

Edit: Oops cjb's link and the link in that thread is much better, sorry.

Fantastic mate, I may order one of those before I take the trim off as I don't fancy doing it twice! Taken my door cards off a couple of times and the skins only just grown back

I changed the motor on my A3 for a different reason. The motor was about £60 from ECP, and changing is easy- the tailgate trim comes off easier than a door card, but usually needs a good pull.

I think the motor is a fairly standard VAG part.

Does anyone know if the clips for the boot trim are the same across the vag range? I wanna get a couple of spare ones in case they snap but I'd rather pick them up from VW as i'll be grabbing the kit there anyway. My nearest skoda dealer is 30 mins away!

I don't know if this is relevant now, but after sorting my wife's Polo 9N out with this problem, I too need a few clips - and it seems that not all of them are the same size - what joy, terms like "lower" and "centre upper" and " upper" are used - and then there are some with no particular position designated! So it looks like I might just buy in a couple of each. These clips and the tailgate trim seem to have been designed to be fitted once, or twice at a push!
