Featured Replies

does disconecting the battery have any detramentle affect on a remapped fabia? need to get to the starter motor plug and cant get my hands in. really need disconect battery but scared it might mess stuff up,

You will have to re-enter the radio code when you put it back on.......but I don't think it will affect the ecu too much apart from making it start from scratch on the learning side of things.....but wait for someone who knows for sure before doing it

again, fairly sure it wont mess up your map, disconnected mine when i done the cambelt, maps still in there.

It wont mess your map and you shouldnt need to re enter the radio code if its been saved previously.

I would probably agree with Lummox. However you may loose the one touch facility on your electric windows, do a search to find how to reset this. You may get a strange fuel economy results because the ECU will have to relearn your driving style. I don't think it resets your trip computer.

You can buy Battery memory savers, these either plug into the mains (eg. from Gunson) or I've even seen just a 9V battery, both plug into your cigarette lighter socket and to retain the memory.

PS. Sorry if this is too late

Apology

Hello,

LUMMOX and JIM H are on the ball, ECU learns quickly the engine data, go for a run with the car, its the radio code to re-enter found in an original radio manuel (inside cover) , the one-touch windows being wound up and down a couple of times.

I feel sure Skoda drops a veil of mystery over the littlest data knowledge. But I've tumbled to this and talk direct to the Skoda parts guy, and do a good search on this valued site. These fellows do really know, and will help by telling you and casting useful ideas at you.

Good luck. 16/05/2009
