2.0 TFSI engine transplant into a MK1 Octavia

Featured Replies

does anybody know if its been done? or if its even possible:confused: as this engine seems to have way more tunning potential than the 1.8 T 20v

Yeh, sell your Mk1 and buy a Mk2 vRS. Job done.

It's almost certainly possible, but it will cost more that it's worth. The 1.8T is a good engine, and pretty tuneable. Any gain with a TFSI just wouldn't be worth the cost and trouble.

How much power did you want out of the 2.0 TFSI?

I've seen Mk1's running 600bhp , totally undrivable when right foot applied.

Google "most tunable VAG engine" and you'll find that the vast majoirty of info there is for the 1.8T :)

mirrored my thoughts there are way more bits and bobs available for the 1.8T engine on the market as a pose to the tfsi. by the time you buy the tfsi engine and get it fitted and converted you could have upped the power on yours massively

It seems to me that the 2.0 TFSI is more tuneable. So will a miltek, intake, fuel pump bring a 1.8T on a mk1 to 280bhp+ for the same money? Not likely. The 2.0 has more capacity and more torque.

nope but like has been said its easier and cheaper to get the mk2 vRS and start there.

I can understand what you on about tho as the mk2 is not the nicest lookin imho.

I would rather the mk1.

It's only really the front of the MKII that isn't as nice, I wonder if you could put the bonnet, wings and front of a MKI onto a MKII?

Probably not. Wrong generation, you see Boras with Golf front ends and such but they are the same generation.

It would be cool though.

Can you get a 4x4 DSG TFSI MKII? I don't think they do that configuration, nobody would buy the Audi if they did.

by more tunable i dont mean that the 1.8T has more more potential than the tfsi unit, which it is very unlikely that it does, what i mean by more tunable is that there is way more things on the market to enable you to hit big figures. im talking 450+power.

especially when you take into account the cost of buying the tfsi engine, getting it installed, then tuning that up

Course it is possible, like retrofitting rs4 engines into other vag cars, the limit is your budget and your actual desire to do it.....

Sometimes we are a bit of a conservative forum (des and his crazy beast not included;)) and we dont tend to get involved in this type of stuff, other vag forums (golf ones) have 4x4 transplants, petrol to diesel swaps and twin engined cars to name a few.....

As for which is more tuneable.......who knows! however, i say....

Go for it, as the mk1 is nicer looking:cool:!

yea

bring on the lotto then Id make my vRS into a 4x4 wi the V8 RS4 powerplant in and change the interior ie seats to the same as the RS4. Also make a few of my own things ie a sat nav pod for the dash wi the lasrge tom tom in it all built in.

A man can dream cant he?

Sounds sweet billy, some of those electric hip hugging rs4 seats which are amazing, push sport mode and they adjust to suit.......

unless you are a fat boy like me, ahem diet might be needed!

bringing it on topic taking into account the cost of the conversion i'd say you could get the 1.8t to make the 2.0t look very silly for the same money, if your then talking about tuning the 2.0t on top then it stands no chance.

its not the extra capacity that makes the 2.0t better really (although obviously it helps) but its more down to the head and the direct injection i think :)

what garrett are you getting for £600 delivered?

then there are manifolds, ecu, loom etc etc

backdraft motorsport sell turbo and manifold for 600 nicker

however all the ancills required ae where it becomes expensive

but which turbo is it?

just looked at backdraft's site and the only uprted turbo they have on there is a K04 for £2500.

in comparison my garrett turbo(gt2860rs) and equal length manifold have cost about times what your quoting.

i may have read it wrong but i could swear i saw turbo alone, but cant find it now since they revamped the site

just found the K04 for that money but its for a 1.8T. they dont even list garretts anymore now???? only complete k04 turbo kit. therefore cancel all my last,

Personally id just buy the RS4 :)

Yes, but the mk2 will set you back over twice as much in the first place. You can pick up a mk1 for under 3k now. Then there is the fact that the mk2 is so fugly.;)

Oh, just remembered, I own a mk2. :o

So DES will this be a sensible car or will you go for even more power than the Red Devil:eek:

my origianl thought were the MKI looks so much better than the MKII the touque of the TFSI is what a would like. after having a ride in MAKEFISH'S old car it was AWESOME:)

who needs more power than that it was driveable and very quick and he did not spend multiple thousands to get that amount of power it was what I call a sensible MOD:thumbup:
