remap stats please post

Featured Replies

hi all, after spending hours searching the forum and people's views i've decided i haven't yet decided what I want and it still going to take awhile before i decide if I want to remap or not. generic or custom code etc.

:)

I was hoping i'd politely ask you all that have had a remap to post here please the following

what remap it was?

the bhp and torque figure

how many miles have you had it for now?

did it break your clutch?

would you recommend it?

this would really help me tally people's answers as the search function although very helpful goes back to posts years ago and things could have changed with your cars since then.

in meantime i have been in touch with many companies re:remaps to learn as much as i can but nothing beats personal experience which is what you lot have

thanks again!

Hate to say it, but all of the information you want / need is either available here or from a quick google search. I doubt you'll find many people willing to type out all the details you want when they have probably typed it over and over again.

Having said that, I have bothered to type this out, so who knows ;)

Put a location and I'm sure somebody will point you in the right direction of someone who is local - also take a look at the site sponsors

what remap it was? Motech via Unit18

the bhp and torque figure? don't know (not been on a RR)

how many miles have you had it for now? maybe 1500-2000 (only tend to do short journeys)

did it break your clutch? nope, car gets ragged often and never had any clutch slip

would you recommend it? hell yes

:)

what remap it was? - AmD Generic One-click (switchable)

the bhp and torque figure - 173 BHP 295ft/lb

how many miles have you had it for now? - about 90k

did it break your clutch? - Not Yet, still on original OEM clutch @ 118k

would you recommend it? - Bang for Buck and [Touchwood] clutch longevity [Touchwood/], yes

HTH

I'm with tim as there are about a million threads containing all the info you want and everyones personal experiences - however:

Jabbasport custom RR remap

176BHP - unsure of torque figure as RR print out is in the car!

about 7000 miles

original clutch on 50k and 99.9% slipless

very much recommended probably more for the transformation in power delivery than the extra ponies! Brilliant wide spread of max torque than one single huge wheel-spinning peak as i had with a generic one on my previous Ibiza TDi

what remap it was? - Dastek Powerplug Dastek Products - Powerplug

the bhp and torque figure - Skoda Fabia vRS

how many miles have you had it for now? - Around 10 000, Cars done 30 000

did it break your clutch? Not yet, touchwood.

would you recommend it? Yes and no. Great chip, with great features, but you need to find somewhere for the tuning box to sit. Rather than just remapping your current ecu dastek give you a box to plug in between the wiring and ecu.

what remap it was? Star Performance

the bhp and torque figure 173bhp 277lb-ft

how many miles have you had it for now? 6000 miles

did it break your clutch? No

would you recommend it? Yes, excellent service took about an hour to complete.

what remap it was? Star Performance

the bhp and torque figure 179bhp 300-ish lb-ft clutch slip on the rollers

how many miles have you had it for now? 3000 miles

did it break your clutch? it was already on its way out so cant blame the remap but now running a sachchs with smf

would you recommend it? Yes, excellent service took about an hour to complete + free coffee to drink and tv or xbox to watch or play with (only for the duration of the work )

I'm also very interested in this topic, good thread to get going as it saves a hell of a lot of time trawling through various forums/posts etc.

I have heard nothing but praise for Star performance and if I could stretch to their price rather than Celtic or Angel tuning I would.

what remap it was? Upsolute

the bhp and torque figure 165.1bhp 298 lb/ft

how many miles have you had it for now? 22,000 miles

did it break your clutch? nope

would you recommend it? Oh yes!

Edited now! :)

Was £300 and the best £300 I spent on that car!

thanks guys! keep it going! obviously u dont have to stick to my suggested format in answering questions. if u want to add comments feel free. Maybe if there's more replies to this thread it can be made a sticky later. And on a personal note all the info you are providing is very helpful and also gives a good idea of which remappers are worth checking out.

Did it make a vast difference when you renewed your insurance policy ??

Is there huge amount of difference between a standard pd130 and a mapped one? I.e do you notice is being much faster?

Is there huge amount of difference between a standard pd130 and a mapped one? I.e do you notice is being much faster?

from reading up, there's significant difference in acceleration from 3000rpm all the way to 4500. Its advised not to boot it too often below 2000rpm.

I think its not really a case of being "faster" but more on how quickly it pulls. And when its remapped it apparently pulls alot more evenly and smoothly, and there's more torque in the mid to upper ranges. You need to choose a good remapper to get this and from what i hear p-torque, angel tuning and jabba are very good in what they do.
