Dealer Servicing Cheaper ? - Update

Featured Replies

further to a previous thread of mine, ive just got the service schedule book out to have a read

now the dealer was charging about £110 for a lube service, which is great, dealer stamp in the book, free courtesy car etc, reading more closely though, and after having some more detailed replies from the dealer on what this service actually is, im starting to think the price difference is not what it first seems between the dealers and independents

i received a reply from the dealers when i questioned about different services, that "the lube service is an oil and filter change only and nothing else"

the 60k service which i was quoted £223.11 seems far more thorough and is a proper inspection service with the pollen filter being changed aswell

for my £110 i was fully expecting the car to be given a 'going over', maybe not as thoroughly as maybe the 60k service i was thinking of doing early, but some kind of inspection of things at least

im awaiting a reply from Sarah at Awesome to see how detailed there service is in comparison, but from what she has said to me in the past it seems more of a real service, not just an oil change !

It is what is says, just an Oil service and thats what you get. VW dealers do the same but at £99 last time I went there.

now booked in with Awesome :)

Stealer prices are a joke. Some little turd smashed the wing mirror on my dad's Furby the other night - only the glass, the mirror housing is still intact but the replacement glass is £40 and that's without the labour. So my dad being a shrewd Yorkshireman will most likely fashion a replacement himself probably with some careful cutting of kitchen foil and to hell with the heated glass. You could get an oil and filter change at Budjet for like £40. Or could do it yourself for free...

well from my previous thread, and on the face of it, the dealers appear to be quite cheap for a service, however it really is nothing more than an oil change, the car doesnt get looked over, no diagnostic check etc

Really, Blimey! I woulda thought running a VagCom would have been in there interest in fishing for more work to sell you.

lol, They're missing a trick there then ;)

i think they would look for more work, but it wouldnt be the check over id expect from a 'service', i think the car would be in and out to be honest
