de cat downpipe???

I have just seen a De Cat downpipe exhaust on the infamous flea bay for a very nice price. firstly it says it will fit Vw golf 2.0T/Jetta 2.0T/ Audi A3 2.0T/GTI - 2006. presumably it will fit the mk2 vRS also.

Im considering buying it thenswapping back to the standard exhaust for MOTs or for 'normal use'( altough first MOT isnt for another year and half).

Are there any issues with this that I am not thinking of, as the only one I can think of is the emissions. I already have stage 2 remap loaded onto my bluefin.

The #2 lambda sensor should register off the scale without the cat present, so you need either custom software or the said sensor replaced with a resistor with a convenient value (but that will not mean the engine will run it's best in all scenarios: outside temp, load, throttle, air etc).

but isnt that the purpose of the stage 2 remap. to enter in the codes that make sure the engine runs correct with it and does not start throwing DTC lights at you

Superchips may do you a map for that but you would have to ask.

I believe REVO do if you ask them nicely.

the question is how much gains would you be likely to see with the decat over the normal perfomance 200 cell cat.

price is £210 fpor 3 inch de Cat downpipe.

also would the downpipe fit the octy vRS

The good news is,

bluefin have got back to me and they do provide a de-cat stage two remap:D, and all i have to do is ask so an email has gone off to them now with my serial number and i am about to place my bid on the DP provided they confirm that all relevant brackets come with it to enable me to fit it with no p**ing around.

I think that the bracket connnecting the standard DP and Cat to the standard Cat back exhaust is re-usable and i should be able to use that for the new pipe. Anybody think otherwise???

Looking forward to the new results. bluefin quote stage 2 figures of 259bhp, 298Ibft with 200 cell exhaust, so im hoping to meet those figures at the minimum or maybe even make some more. :)

I am also looking into having a 200 cell section made up to swap with the decat for normal use, emails have been sent out, but it im thinking it will end being custom made.

One question though do i require a gasket for the flange where it bolts onto the turbo and is it worth putting exhaust putty on all of the joints or should it just fit snug.
