Very nearly got owned today!!!!

Featured Replies

As the title says, I very nearly got my **** handed to me today by a bloody N reg Corsa.:eek::eek: It was a ****y red GSI. I'm guessing it might have been turbo'd because when he booted it every gear change was accompanied by a whiff of black smoke from his exhaust. I'm came up behind him at about 40mph then he booted it and we where exactly the same pace as each other upto the NSL obviously for about 5 miles. I was quite surprised how rapid it was. Me in my 07 vRS and him in a N plate heap and I couldn't make any ground on him. Think its time for a re-map :o

So what engine is in those bloody things anyway?

2.0t

That makes sense. ;)

Probably a C20LET, more specifically, so 200BHP.

I thought it was probably around the 200bhp mark. Well back when the car was new anyway, so after 10+ years it would probably have lost a bit making it equal to power output as mine. I bet my brakes would have been better tho lol. :P

They weren't Turbo'd as standard were they? It would have been a conversion IMO, probably from a Calibra.

Yep, biggest engine a Corsa came with was a 1.6 NA lump IIRC.

It wasn't a C20LET - it would've left you for dead @200bhp in a small car, and most of them run 240-280bhp all day long. It was probably a C20XE (2L 16V).

Neither were standard - it is a common transplant.

And both these engines make great BHP up to mega-miles.

A modded 2.0 litre redtop in a corsa will shift nicely, especially with a few complimentary mods. Throttle bodies would be a good'un.

Shame - you must feel very proud of yourselves to have had such a close race...

.......sorry, steady drive "up to the national speed limit"

Dunno. Could you get that 200BHP on the road without being all over the shop?

You're right though, both engines are a very common transplant.

wouldnt suprise me if it was as little as a 2.0l 8v cause these can shift... my mapped fabia just edges one

Was hardly a race (maybe should have been a bit clearer in my first post) it was a long straight road with cars driving V slowly (<45mph). We were just nipping in and out of the traffic at the same time.
