VW Karmann?

Featured Replies

Seems about right to me, possibly even a bit too high for a LHD - obviously depends upon condition. Having said that its been a while since I've been actively involved with the VW community.

Looks very bright & shiny, maybe a bit over restored and I dont think it is in original colours, the interior sometimes lets restored cars down if its been modified so that will reduce the price. Or maybe the dealer is desperate for cash.

Prices on Karmanns and beetles are down at the min, as everyone wants campers. Give it a few years for the balance to shift again, and the prices will go back up.

I would say that it's a bit overpriced, but is looks fully restored so in theory should have less problems than a rust bucket.

Make sure it has been done properly though , panels are a fortune and they are notorious for rust... having said that I'd still love one , even the Type 3 based one (with even less parts availible for it!)

Ive just seen the ad , its at Specialist Cars of Malton in N Yorks , IIRC they are Porsche Specialists and have a decent reputation so I'd be happy that the car is half decent if they say it is.
