oil pump drive cog

Featured Replies

Just changed timing chain (old one stretched like a politicians credibility) on 1.3 mpi. I'm having trouble getting the oil pump drive gear back on the camshaft. For some reason I can't seem to get it started onto the shaft, it came off no problem. No burrs that I can see or feel, well oiled, woodruff not reached, not sure whether a spell in the freezer or oven might help. Any handy hints gratefully received. Thanks

Freezer should shrink it very slightly, no idea if it will help though.

Thanks very much, I'll give it a try in the morning. I suppose in theory I should freeze the camshaft, only got a little freezer though :)

Success, I ended up giving the shaft a light polish with 800 wet and dry and a wash down. I must have just raised a little lip somehow when I put the chain cogs on. Nice, honest (and hopefully soon quiet) car, flew through its MOT last week without too much preparation. Thanks again for the reply.
