T-Mobile MDA Compact IV

Featured Replies

My 18 month t-mobile contract is up, and although I still like my fully sim free N95 that cost me a fortune 2 years ago I am looking at possibly upgrading my phone. I have always liked Windows Mobile phones, and like the PDA type functionality of the N95 as well.

I can get the T-Mobile MDA Compact IV for free as an upgrade, so is it worth doing. I know the phone only has a questionable 3mp camera, but it would integrate easily with my home email system, and having IE as a web browser should be better than the limiting nokia one.

Also the T-Mobile branding seems to have taken some of the shine of the UI, so is it possible to flash the phone with a generic HTC Touch Diamond firmware, after all the T-mobile phone is just one of these rebranded.

yes you will be able to flash a different diamond rom onto it, have a look at XDA Developers for a whole load of different roms. Though if you have any problems with the handset you will need to flash the original rom back before letting t-mobile get hold of it.

You get the opera mobile browser as well which is miles better than PIE.

The Diamond 2 has come out now, but given how slow t-mobile UK are they probably won't have it until next year.

I've got the touch pro, basically the diamond with a keyboard and it's pretty good, including the camera but it is a bit slow. One thing is that the diamond doesn't have a memory card slot but it does have 4gb internal memory IIRC.
