My Pollen filter's been nicked.

Featured Replies

Tried to find my pollen filter today following info on another thread. Looked both sides and all I found was a row of holes in a plastic plate thing with cold air coming out. Searched everywhere for anything like a turnbutton, knurled nuts, sliding flaps ---anything.

My car is a 2005 LHD Tdi

Inside the glovebox lefthand side high up above the Air conditioning inlet to the glovebox is a thing that looks like the front handle of a sliding drawer or ashtray--about 5 or 6 inches long. it is loose---sloppy in its fit but firmly fixed and will not come out. Is this anything to do with it ?

I am at a total loss with this. Please and Thanks

Under glove box remove trim then up inside there is your pollen filter.

Thanks.

I've just tried to find the thread on here that covered this topic --that set me off looking for my filter. Can I find it? Can I hell. One poster gave a part number for the filter and other details so finding it would be helpful.

Is it my fault or is the search facility on Briskoda total pants ?

Is yours a 2005 MK I (A4) Octavia or a 2005 Mk II (A5) Octavia.

This will determine where your pollen filter is.

If a MK I it is under the skuttle panel on the top under the windscreen. You get to this from the bonnet.

If a MK II it is under the glovebox. Go under the glovebox and you will see two small thumbscrews on a foam cover. These may be missing, but pull the foam cover gently forward and this will reveal a slide door which you push to one side and remove. This will then allow the old pollen filter (and probably a tonne of leaves) to drop down and be pulled out for replacement.

If it has an chilled glovebox it's the mk2.

Ok, so in the footwell, those holes expelling air are the footwell vents. They are surrounded by a foam piece, which should have two thumbscrews, feel around for them, they open the opposite way normal screws turn.

Having undone those 2 thumbscrews, reach down where it meets the floor pan and pull it out, then behind it is the pollen filter cover, which slides to the right and drops to reveal the pollen filter.
