Spare tire

Featured Replies

This morning had to use the spare tire which was untouched like for 3.5 years. I was surprised that the spare is full size, but more surprised I was about the sticker on it that says about the driving speed - no more than 80 km/h

Thought these stickers come only with thin spares?

What's the size of tyre and speed rating suffix?

no idea, haven't looked

even if its a proper tyer, but a differant size to the other three , it has to be treated as a tempory use tyre

IIRC the VRS comes with 17 or 18" wheels and lower profile tyres. The spare is a 16" steel wheel and comes with a higher profile tyre. All have the same rolling radius, just a different tread width etc.

i've got 235/45/17 and the spare is 205/55/16, couldn't find the s.r. suffix.

.. about s.r. suffix, if it helps - spare brand is Dunlop Sport

you won't generally find SR on the tyre any more just something like:

205/55/r16 ZR

205/55/r16 V etc

Since your car can IIRC do greater than 140mph that would restrict the types of tyre you can use.

when i had my vRS, that had a Bridgestone Turanza as the spare and although that had the 80km/h sticker, the tyre its self was rated for 150mph :) needless to say the spare tyre didnt slow me down

LOL, seen true thin speed rated spares beeing ragged at over a ton by eager reps!

That makes me shudder. Seeing a car on the motorway, driving like Giovardi with a skinny spare.

Some people drive arouind with those skinny things on on the front tyres.

I believe proper skinny ones aren't reconmmended on the front sterring wheels
