cracking up

Featured Replies

I've had my 07 diesel elegance from new and its been fautless so far except for one little problem that has occured over the past few weeks. The clear plastic in front of the speedo has started to crack from the bottom in several places. They're just small vertical cracks about 10mm long but are getting longer every day. Nothing has ever been placed infront of it, nor has it ever been hit by anything. Has anyone else experienced this problem and would it be covered under the warranty?

I would expect this to be covered by the warranty without a doubt.

I presume that any main dealer will do as the one that supplied the car (Laser in Harlow) has gone.

How long is the standard warranty and would it cover things like the bonnet badge and wheel centre caps where the silvering has come off?

3 years and any skoda dealer and even some other non skoda VAG dealers will. Should cover for things like centre caps and badges as long as they havent been damaged, i.e. fair use

With badges and trim you might get an argument, but the instrument panel should get fixed.

etskoda. Mines doing 'exactly' the same thing ! 57 plate estate with 10,000 miles on the clock.

I only noticed it last week. Let us know how you go on at the dealer. Can you post any pictures.

Well I mailed 4 local dealers to ask if it would be a warranty job, Gordon Lamb in Chesterfield, Bickertons in Sheffield, Rainworth in Mansfield and another in Doncaster.

Only one has replied, Gordon Lamb who have asked me to take it in so they can have a look.

OK a further update. Called into Bickertons today and Simon kindly came out and had a look. It's a warranty job.

Darlingtons in Harlow have taken over the Skoda franchise.

They are in River Way off Edinburgh Way in Harlow.

If you have where Laser were on your right hand side, they are up at the next roundabout.

I had the same.

At the time (a few years back) Sparshats in fareham said no claim and i'd have to pay for a new pod then could try a claim but it would probably get rejected.

Another local dealer looked at it, decided that it was very poor and the item was changed under warranty.

Yeah thats identical to mine. No problems at all with Bickertons. Simon asked me if I had a hands free fitted or if the car had been used as a cab. Neither applied to me.
